We are a children's chorus made up of singers in grades 1-12 from the Southeastern communities of Massachusetts including the greater Fall River, New Bedford and Taunton areas as well as the coastal communities situated near Cape Cod and Plymouth. The Advanced Chorus is auditioned and our Preparatory Chorus is open to all with a love and interest in singing.
We are a service minded group with a mission to share our music-making with diverse audiences throughout our own community and beyond.
Our director is Dr. Tianxu Zhou who is also the conductor of the Tabor Academy Choruses and the Salve Regina University Choruses.

SCCC Values: Service, Culture, Confidence & Community
SERVICE
-
We are both a youth development and a community service organization. Our singers are joyful to share their talent and dedication to music through our many community performances. In addition to our regular concert season, the SCCC can be seen and heard at civic events throughout the South Coast and beyond.
-
To request our groups for performances please fill send an e-mail to scccsings@gmail.com with detailed information about your event or project. Please place your event request as early as possible with at least a month lead time.
CULTURE
-
Because music is a universal language, we provide a range of cultural music traditions that represent the communities in our area and beyond.
-
We sing in multiple languages and explore the rich cultural heritage of our community through hands on-workshops.
-
Whenever possible we collaborate with local and international organizations on cultural projects such as recent collaborations with the New Bedford Whaling and Historic National Park, Whaling Museum, New Bedford Historical Society as well as the world renowned African Children's Choir
CONFIDENCE
-
Singing on stage is an excellent way for young people to build self-confidence. Whether they are featured as a soloist or singing as part of the larger group, the process of practicing and honing your skills to accomplish a ‘performance ready’ piece helps children learn that dedication and perseverance always pay off.
-
Parents and singers comment on how much confidence singers gain while singing with SCCC.
COMMUNITY
-
Even though we strive for excellence, we are non-exclusive… all who want to join can.
-
SCCC is representative of the entire South Coast Community and therefore, we believe in ensuring diversity.
-
We cultivate our own community through acceptance, kindness and encouragement. Being part of SCCC means that you uphold these values.
